PRO PLUG SYSTEM FOR WOOD
SPECIES, SIZES, AND PACKAGING
The initial launch of the Smart-Bit Pro Plug System is for a hardwood plug size we are calling #8. This size refers in general terms to the #8 (4.5mm) size screw we are using, along with a hardwood plug that is approximately 5/16" (8.5mm) in diameter. The wood plug itself is 7.0mm in height. Pro Plug Decking Kits come with #305 stainless steel deck screws that are 2-1/2" (63mm) long, for decking that is between 3/4" (19mm) and 1-1/4" (32mm) thick. Pro Plug Flooring Kits come with hardened steel zinc plated screws that are 1-5/8" (41mm) long, for flooring that is 3/4" (19mm) thick.
A system designed for larger dimension hardwood decking — 1-1/2" thick (38mm) — is currently in development and will involve larger diameter screws and larger wood plugs.

| Each Pro Plug tool package includes a complete tool, 2 standard size replacement drill bits, a Stub Bit and a hex wrench for replacing drill bits. Pro Plug Replacement Drill Bits are also available and sold in packs of 5. Currently, there are only replacement bits for our standard size drill bits. In the future, replacements will also be available for the Stub Bit. | |
